How does microdermabrasion therapy work?

The essential difference between the Medical dermaroller and other methods of improving the appearance and condition of the skin is in the fact that it does not have the ablative effect – it does not destroy the tissue and it causes almost no trauma. The usual methods such as CO2 laser, fractional laser, peeling, dermabrasions work on a principle of “shaving” a layer of the skin, and this is not the case with the microdermabrasion therapy which utilises the Medical dermaroller.

The application of Medical dermaroller^®  in medical literature is called also the collagen induction therapy or microneedling. Non-traumatic micro needles with an exceptionally fine tip diameter (< 3 μm) initiate in the organism, as with any injury, the processes of self-healing and mending.

The application of dermaroller is possible with different therapeutic goals: it heals scars (hypertrophic and atrophic), acne, finer and deeper wrinkles, stretch marks, it enhances the trans-dermal intake of the active, medicinal substances. Therapy with Medical dermaroller^® is performed exclusively by the trained staff at the authorized practitioner offices and clinics. Medical dermaroller^®  is a roller with micro needles which can be of different lengths, while the roller can be of different thickness, and the choice of which will depend on the therapeutic goal. All of our devices have the finest micro needles made of stainless steel. The course of microdermabrasion therapy with Medical dermaroller^®

During the therapy with Medical dermaroller^®, the micro needles will open thousands of microscopic channels in the skin, which will immediately following this close down, enabling the skin to recover quickly. At least 20 minutes prior to the treatment, the trained staff will apply a local anaesthetic on your skin, in a form of a cream, which will make the treatment pleasant. The therapy itself usually lasts 20-30 minutes.

After the therapy with Medical dermaroller^® your body will be renewing the skin the natural way, in its deeper layers. The new collagen and new cells are created, and the skin vascularisation is increased. It usually takes up to 6 weeks until the visible signs of regeneration appear, and the process will continue also during the following months, giving you the long-lasting improvement of the skin appearance.

For optimal results, it is recommended that 3 microdermabrasion treatments are done in 6-week intervals, but with more severe acne scars, your dermatologist may also recommend up to 5 treatments. Immediately following the therapy with Medical dermaroller^® you can look like you are having minor sun burns, and the skin may be warm and tighter than usual, but this will go away 1 to 2 hours after the treatment, and the redness will completely subside as soon as the next day.

In the next 48 hours following the derma roller treatment, use tepid water for skin care, and be mindful that your hands are clean if you are touching your face, and you can apply make-up as soon as 6 or 12 hours after the treatment. If you are going out in the daylight, applying cream with high SPF is definitely recommended, during 2 weeks after the therapy, even if it is winter and there is no sunshine. A few days after the treatment, you may also experience a feeling of skin dryness, which will disappear with time.
