Here you will find a clever idea from the world of medical aesthetics every month, and we will try to make it relevant to the time of year.

Enjoying the summer heat? However, is sweating a big problem? Underarm sweating ruining your clothes? Do you get embarassing hand or facial sweating? Well we have a very simple answer and yes you have guessed it , it is botox!

Botox treatments for sweating are both revolutionary and life changing. The procedure takes only a few minutes, is relatively painless (except in the hands which can be quite uncomfortable), and you will be sweat free for more than 6 months.

The price at the Milo clinic for these procedures is from £600.

Please follow the link above an you will go straight through to the latest Daily mail newspaper article , in which Dr Milojevic was asked to comment on several of our top celebs and their increasingly youthful and yet quite natural looking appearances.

Here are some of his comments from the article:

JENNIFER ANNISTON (A long time favourite actress of ours, we have loved her since her days in Friends)

Dr Milojevic says: ‘Jen looks great and never seems to age, keeping her appearance looking fresh and youthful.

‘It looks as though she has regular Botox around her eyes and in her forehead as it’s very wrinkle-free. It also appears she’s had neckline Botox to keep her decolletage tight and unlined.’

GWYNETH PALTROW (Another favourite, and our very own living in London)

Nick Milojevic says: ‘I would say Gwyneth Paltrow has had a subtle dose of baby Botox.

‘Gwyneth is naturally beautiful but considering she’s 37 it is possible that she’s had cheek fillers to plump and smooth the skin and also a non-surgical neck lift to tighten the skin beneath her neck.’

SARAH JESSICA PARKER (Sex in the City star)

But Dr Milojevic believes: ‘Although Sarah Jessica Parker looks fantastic and natural, she has almost certainly had Botox in the “frown” lines on the brow and around the eyes.

‘I would say she has possibly had Botox on her jawline as her jaw is distinctively defined and the skin taut in that area.

‘She may have also had fillers in her cheeks, which look rounder than I’d expect on someone with a face as narrow as hers.

‘To keep her skin looking so fresh and bright she may occasionally have chemical peels such as Obagi Blue peel or dermal roller treatment.’

VICTORIA BECKHAM (need we say more)

And despite claiming only her ‘tan and nails’ are fake, Victoria Beckham, 36, seems to have altered dramatically since starting out with the Spice Girls.

Dr Milojevic says:’Victoria Beckham appears to have had more non-surgical treatments than the other celebrities; she is so different from when she started out with Spice Girls.

Weight loss has played a big part in her changing appearance and she is reported to have had laser lypolysis for body contouring, though I don’t believe this has ever been confirmed.

‘She looks to have had Botox, and possibly a non-surgical eyebrow lift which is a combination of dermal fillers and Botox to achieve statement brows.

‘I’m aware that Victoria has had problems with her skin and to keep it looking rejuvenated and fresh I would imagine she has had a mix of medial microdermabrasion and peels to keep her skin radiant and blemish free. ‘

The journalists writing this piece coined a phrase : THE NO TRACE FACE, and we agree, even though these 4 favourite household names have had lots of aesthetic work done , this can only be detected by the professional eye. And this encompasses and confirms all that is good about medical minimally invasive aesthetics… If done by a good and experienced doctor, the results can be perfectly natural. However, as you will see the Daily Mail article goes on to show how , unfortunately there are lots of famous stars out there who were not lucky enough to fall in the hands of a competent and experienced specialist!

As Dr Milojevic put it in his final comment for the article:

‘The beauty of non-surgical treatments is that if they are done well they give a fantastically natural look, leaving patients looking fresher, younger and more healthy without any obvious traces of a doctor’s needle.”

And so say all of us….

ps Well done David Cameron, and good luck as PM! I am sure that you will do a great job for the country…

So why indeed has that Look magazine article stirred my passions so much? (for the original coverage of our latest press outing click on : (http://www.miloclinic.com/blog/?p=239 ).

Well to be honest I am not that bothered about what happened, but it makes for a good blog..

So let me tell you a story…

Following our press coverage in last month’s Grazia, Look magazine contacted me to help them put together an article on 6 of the new procedures loved by the A-listers and they proposed that these were quick nip/tuck procedures, perfect for red carpet outings. Having previously read about our expertise on eye bag and nose procedures, the journalist asked for our help in putting together texts on these two topics. I gave them a long interview and put them in touch with some of our willing patients who would be happy to talk to the press, and having thanked me, the journalist said that she would be in touch when the article was published.

A few days later, the PR agency from the Harley Medical group contacted me (I still do some occasional sessions for them) asking me to talk to Look magazine for an article on new Nip/Tuck procedures, as having heard about my leading status in the field of baby botox, they were very keen for me to give an interview on the topic. This sounds familiar , I thought to myself..

Imagine my surprise when on the day of the article coming out, Milo clinic was only attributed to the eye bag section, baby botox was suddenly the expertise of some phantom doctor at the Harley Medical Group, and most surprising of all, the nose shaping procedures were attributed to an even more invisible doctor at the other large aesthetic chain, Transform. In addition, Juvederm Ultra was suddenly the filler of choice for noses, and restylane for eye bags.. A balancing act me thinks?!

Well as the great Oscar Wilde once said :

“In America the President reigns for four years, and Journalism governs for ever and ever”

And how apt and how correct he was, especially during the current pre election fervour which is sweeping the UK .. (just as an aside, it is my humble opinion that only David Cameron and the Conservatives can save this country right now from a certain apocalypse. Go Dave! I’ll be watching all night on Thursday..and of course Dave will be leading us for 5 years at least.)

In our profession, we rely on journalists quite a lot , we need them to spread the word of our wonderful ever expanding profession, with all it’s daily advances and novelties. We also rely on them to recognise us when we do good work, when we have gained great experiences, and rely on them to spread the word far and wide. And I have learned through years of dealing with journalists, that they are hardly ever wrong. Yes they do need to sell their publications, and that means that they sometimes over step the mark, but usually they are very very fair and give very balanced opinions.

In the case of the Look article we are discussing, it is obvious that it was the editor’s decision to make some of the changes. Was he wrong? As I said, definitely not! At first I thought to myself, rather self boastfully, I AM the leading expert in these 3 fields, and should be credited for it, but when I had time to think I realised that what the editor did made absolute sense. They were trying to give a balanced view, and in describing 6 cutting edge aesthetic treatments, they wanted to point the reader to 6 different centres of excellence. To point the reader to the same clinic for 50% of these procedures, would have just looked lazy and biased…

Until the next blog, “All is fair in love and war” and I can’t remember who said that….

We are proud to announce that Dr Nick Milojevic was once again featured in the UK press last week in the top selling Look magazine. Hot on the heels of last month’s Milo clinic coverage in Grazia , Look again covered Dr Milojevic’s pioneering tear trough treatment, also known as Non-Surgical eyebag removal. The article covered 6 of the new “nip/tweaks” popular with the A-listers, and in fact Dr Milojevic was originally contacted as the leading UK surgeon for 3 of them: non-surgical eye bag treatment, baby botox, and nose shaping procedures, and helped the Look journalist put together all 3 topics. However, as you will see for one reason or another, Dr Milojevic was eventually only specifically mentioned for one of them, but more on that and the fickleness of magazine editors in our latest blog. Just click on: http://www.miloclinic.com/blog/?p=252 , to read more about this… All very interesting stuff!!

You can find the full article scanned in below. Stacy Whitham is our very own patient, and you can see her before and after photos on our website.

As a small preview to the blog, the baby botox section credits Harley Medical Group as the experts, but guess who originally pioneered this procedure at the Harley Medical Group, and guess who helped the journalist write this piece…

We are proud to announce that Dr Nick Milojevic has been chosen by Q-med, the makers of restylane, perlane and macrolane, to be their UK expert for non-surgical rhinoplasties. A non-surgical rhinoplasty is a nose shaping procedure using a dermal filler only and no need for a scalpel. The procedure is quick and painless and can achieve truly remarkable results. It is especially good for patients who want more shape and more volume to their nose or want small unevenesses corrected, but what is even more impressive is that even patients such as our model on the right , for whom it was previously thought that only surgery could help, can get brilliant results with a non-surgical rhinoplasty with restylane lidocaine and perlane lidocaine.

Here is this model’s testimonial which describes everything beautifully:
“I have always had a complex about the shape of my nose and always cringed when I would see photographs of my profile and it’s “hooked” nature. I have therefore been considering a surgical rhinoplasty for a long time , but the cost and fear of the operation have been stopping me.

I was therefore intrigued when I heard of these non-surgical nose shaping procedures with Restylane. When I met Dr Milojevic, he put me at total ease, and explained that this was a quick and painless procedure with no serious side effects.

He used a new type of Restylane with local anaesthetic , and the procedure was indeed painless. Apart from some swelling for a few days, I had no other side-effects afterwards.

Now, 1 month later, I have a beautiful new nose! I must say that not in my wildest dreams did I think that the results Dr Milojevic achieved were possible. I have a gorgeous profile and a straight nose. I couldn’t stop looking at photographs of me from a recent wedding. What is amazing, and I don’t know how this is possible, is that my nose looks smaller! It’s like magic!”

Q-med and Milo clinic are together looking for any willing models to come in to our clinic for a nose shaping procedure (the non-surgical rhinoplasty) or indeed a tear trough procedure (the non-surgical eyebag removal). This is a very good opportunity, and these models would have to be willing to have their photos taken, and to talk to the press and possibly make appearances in the media.

For anyone interested please call the Milo clinic on 0207 1001234, and do make it clear that you want to be a model for one of these procedures.

For further information on these procedures:

In September’s issue of the Company magazine, Dr Nick Milojevic gave an in depth interview discussing the terrifying advent of websites promoting DIY botox.

These are websites selling cheap, stolen and quite probably contaminated botox, and they come with face maps, needles and syringes, telling the prospective DIY patient where and how to inject the toxin.

E-Bay did for a short time sell such “packages” of botox online, but they did swiftly remove the items.

Dr Milojevic found this a rather shocking revalation, and he advised all readers of Company magazine to stear clear of any online DIY botox, dermal fillers or any other DIY aesthetic treatments, as the consequences could be disasterous. The side effects can include short term results such as heavy eye droop, brow droop, facial assimetry or lumpiness to name but a few. But what is a lot more worrying are more serious side effects such as skin infection, skin necrosis, systemic infection or even death.

Dr Milojevic also commented that these “one size fits all” maps sounded horrific, as cosmetic doctors know that every face is different, and each botox treatment is tailor made to the individual patient.

So the moral to this magazine interview? Don’t poison yourself with horrible, stolen, high dose or contaminated batches of botox or dermal filler, but seek out a qualified, and superbly trained doctor, preferrably a member of the British Association of Cosmetic Doctors. If you do this you just can’t go wrong…

You can read the full interview below:

Breaking News! Gordon Ramsey recently admitted to having botox ! I never thought I would see the day!

Gordon is quoted as saying ““Anyway, I was getting a complex for the first time in my life, so I did it. Botox. A jab here and one here. And no one has f****** noticed.”

My patients have so often used Gordon as an example of how they do NOT want their wrinkles to look! His signature furrowed brow has become famous the world over. All those hours in hot steamy kitchens, hot sunny holidays and a tough life to boot had taken their toll. And now he has done it!

A high profile “frowner” such as Gordon Ramsey having botox is yet again proof of the increasing trend of “boytox” or “mantox” , where men are catching up women fast in the botox stakes. Men just don’t want to look older than women any more. They are all reaching out for these “new age” facial steam irons..

See the interview on Channel 5 news with Dr Milojevic talking about “boytox”.

So yet again botox to the rescue!

Open letter to Gordon Ramsey from the Milo clinic:

Dear Gordon,

We hope that you are well.

If you want your botox done by the best, most experienced doctor in London, we invite you to come and see our very own “Botox King” , Dr Nick Milojevic at the Milo clinic.

And Mr Ramsey, if you present a copy of this blog when you book your appointment, you’ll get your botox for half price. ;0)

We look forward to welcoming you to the Milo clinic soon

Yours Sincerely

Milo clinic

“Though it may have passed many readers by, to millions of women it is, quite simply, the most famous face peel in history. It occurs in episode 71 of Sex And The City, when the man-eater Samantha, determined to look fabulous for her friend Carrie’s glamorous book-launch party, decides to have a chemical peel. ” Daily Mail

As it turns out, Samantha didn’t do her research or read her consent form properly, where she would have found that there IS some downtime involved, and you can imagine how the party went!

All great fun but joking aside, I was glad to see this Amanda Platell feature at the beginning of this month, as I have been so excited about Obagi treatments for quite some time. Amanda Platell is a well known TV and newspaper journalist, and she was treated with Obagi creams and the blue peel and she wrote about her experiences in the Daily Mail . It was a brilliant article, and Amanda from all accounts is thrilled with her results. As a criticism of the article, the before and after photos were really not very good at all, but the article does illustrate the magic of Obagi perfectly!

For the full article: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/beauty/article-1197162/AMANDA-PLATELL-Ill-try-look-young-Im-blue-face.html

Obagi truly is a miracle for the skin. Just 6-12 weeks of using the obagi creams can quite literally give the patient new skin, removing all blemishes, pigmentations, scarring, pores, thickened skin, fine lines and it’s not a myth, the skin does look 10-20 years younger as a result. The treatment removes the old dead outer layer of skin and allows the new collagen rich skin to come to the fore.

It is safer, more versatile and gets results which are incomparably better than the other chemical peels on the market.

As Amanda says, “I’ll try to look younger until I’m blue in the face”, and yes you can look a little bit like a Smurf or a Blue Man Group member straight after the treatment, but most of this will be removed before you leave the clinic. But don’t book any chic parties for a few days after the peel, as your old skin will be “leaving” you for a few days. A week or so after the peel however, you will be the Belle of the ball with your glowing perfect skin! I know that you probably think I am exaggerating, but trust me it is that good!

Last Sunday, our director, Dr Nikola Milojevic was interviewed by Sky News, discussing the increasingly popular new trend of sweatox. Dr Milojevic is one of UK’s leading experts in administering botox for excessive sweating.

So what is sweatox? Well it’s botox for sweating in the underarms, hands, feet, face and really pretty much anywhere where there is excess sweating. This is a brilliantly effective treatment which is most of our patients described as life changing. The botox blocks the sweat glands from releasing sweat and the results can last as long as one year.

So if you have a summer wedding coming up, an important job interview or if you just want to be free of embarrassing sweat patches or a sweaty brow, sweatox is the answer!

Dear bloggers and aesthetic news fans. To open up this news item, here are two famous quotes on ideas and stolen ideas:

“Eureka! – I have found it!” Archimedes (Mathematician and inventor of ancient Greece 280-211bc)

“Don’t worry about peaople stealing your ideas. If your ideas are any good, you’ll have to ram them down people’s throats” Howard Aiken (American Computer engineer and mathematician 1900-1973)

Two famous quotes, two famous mathematicians!

So what’s this got to do with me, the Milo clinic, medical aesthetics and most importantly 10 years younger?! Well let me explain…

My wife tells me that I always come up with brilliant ideas, it’s just that I don’t always put them into practice quickly enough, or I just don’t “ram them down people’s throats”. It’s not just enough to have that “Eureka!” moment, but in this competitive modern world these “moments” have to be acted upon fast, and one piece of advice, keep them quiet until you do!

Here is an example of my profligacy: during the .COM boom, inspired by the ever growing success of the lastminute.com fenomenon, I asked a .COM whizz kid friend whether bookitinadvance.com sounded like a good idea. “Brilliant!” he said. He tried to secure the domain name and many similar ones that same evening, only to find that somebdoy had just done it, that evening! Spooky? Or were we just not keeping our ideas quiet enough!? (We did meet in a pub!)

Well here’s the thing, a famous production company called Ricochet approached me about 18 months ago with a great idea. They asked me whether I wanted to do a screen test for a TV presenting job on an aesthetics show similar to 10 Years Younger but with a much fresher concept . I did my research before doing the screen test, and found that this was a very reputable production company who have produced famous reality TV shows such as “Supernanny”.

Having done the screen test, I was delighted to be told that I was great on camera, and that in all probability I would be just the guy for the job! I have always had a secret desire to perform in front of a camera, and was naturally thrilled by the prospect! The idea sounded great, a show very similar like 10 Years Younger, the difference being that on each show we would have one “patient” who would have surgical procedures and procedures such as botox, dermal fillers and chemical peels, and the other “patient” would just have a “make-over” , you know things like a good haircut, great make-up, new clothes etc. At the end of the show, the “public” would decide, which “patient” looked more rejuvenated. I would be the presenter fighting the surgical/botox corner, and a famous male make-over presenter would fight the other. “We are approaching Channel 4 with the idea” said Ricochet.

Well for the fans of 10 Years Younger among you, all of this will sound very familiar. A few weeks ago, 10 Years Younger launched it’s new series in a big wave of publicity. Mylene Class was the beautiful new presenter, and the new concept? Yes you have guessed it, Channel 4 liked Ricochet’s idea so much, that they turned their idea down, and just “stole” it..

I spoke to Ricochet, who just said “That’s Showbusiness!”. And they are completely right! Am I bitter? No not at all. It was a fun idea, and many more are still to come…..
